How to repair a Philips Antoniette type name model, PL49287 ? , 24 Dec. 2005 10:10

HI FOLKS in Europe:
In 1070 or so, I buy an Philips Antoniette type name model, PL49287, L6x38&102; DeLuxe fm/am shortwave transistor, portable, batter+power supply Radio. It alway‘s had poor reception, more or less only worked on FM, both power sources. Alway‘s suspect antenna reception problems. Battery source no longer works, very minor corrosion there. Late evening‘s can get 4-5 stations, but poor reception, where do I start to inspect/repair, this extremely attractive, and good base sound radio. Any help appreciated, from Tor/On, Canada.

Hello Keith?
It is a fine set. It is not so easy to give you information about the best repair method frome the distance. At first you have to test the contacts of the wave band switches. In most cases the contacts are corroded. Push on all schwitches (of the key set) 100 times. Now all ok? Perhaps you have to touch very carefully (only 1 mm) on each button of the key set in series. Is there a position with good signal strenght?
